Antique Edwardian sapphire & old cut diamond ring modelled in 18k yellow gold, the gemstones set high in a open gallery upon ornate engraved shoulders.
The central oval sapphire measures approx 5mm East to West and is nestled between 2 round sapphires, approx 4mm. The stones are a fabulous deep dark velvety blue and in excellent condition. They are framed by 8 little diamonds, 4 on each side, each approx 1mm. 1 of the diamonds has been replaced by a modern cut, although it is well matched. The rest are very early old rose cuts, perhaps older than the ring itself. They sit securely but some appear a little askew due to their very basic cut; they were all cut by hand and are irregular in both shape and size.
