One of the most beautiful and unique rings we've ever sold! A Victorian era handmade Engagement ring, in a Pre-Raphelite design; a large (approx 0.6ct) mine cut champagne diamond is claw set in a floral mount upon a wide filigree band.
The diamond is a beautiful pale yellow, raised high allowing light to reach the entire stone. The band features beautiful lace filigree work; delicate intertwined circles, each centered by a 4 petal floral motif, encircle the entire band. The ring would once have been coated in a rose gold layer, but much of this has worn away over the years, leaving the soft yellow gold to shine through. There are teeny tiny patches of rainbow-toned patina in places, which combined with the pinky/orange splashes of rose gold give this ring a fabulous antiqued gold appearance. We have chosen to leave this piece unpolished to maintain this unique look.
Due to it's age, the flower motif on the band is worn, leaving a delicate textured pattern to this dainty ring. One of the tiny gold dots that join the intertwined rings is missing towards the underside of the ring; this is barely noticeable unless closely inspected and certainly does not detract from the ring when it is upon the finger. There is a slight inclusion to the culet of the diamond which is visible to the naked eye.
Very good condition. No hallmarks - we believe this ring to be mid/late Victorian.
UK Size J/K - US Size 5.
Your ring will be sent in one of our presentation boxes, secured with a black satin ribbon.
