An unusual 1970s bespoke ring, modelled in white gold with textured shoulders and channel set with a diamond, ruby and emerald. Heavyweight (a generous 7.8 grams approx ) and beautifully hand crafted, this vintage gemstone ring is a classic example of authentic Brutalist design. It was created by master craftsman David M Robinson early in his career.
The gemstones each measure approx 3mm and are channel set with corner prongs, above a bar set within the large textured head of the ring. Mr Robinson has confirmed that the texture to the shoulders was applied by hand. The ruby is a beautiful deep red and matches well with the bright green of the emerald. The diamond is an antique old cut and under magnification shows surface damage to the edges of the table and some inclusions. These are not visible to the naked eye. It is difficult to grade the diamond due to it's unusual setting; it was presumably of sentimental value to the original owner of this unique ring.
This one of a kind vintage ring is in excellent condition with light wear, there are 2 small surface marks to the underside of the band. The band is 5mm wide.
Hallmarked 18k, London 1978 and stamped with 'DMR',
